| June 15th, 2007,
can become a most memorable day for all parishes in the Oakland Diocese.
Having been given permission by our Bishop, The Most Reverend Allen Vigneron,
and our Pastor, Reverend Jordan Bradshaw, O.P.,
we, the parishioners of
Most Holy Rosary Church in Antioch invite all parishes in the diocese to
join us in One 24 Hour Day of Eucharistic Adoration offered in atonement to
Almighty God for all the constant and blasphemous attacks against Our Lord
And Savior, Jesus Christ. As followers of Jesus, isn’t it about time
we do something to defend His holy name that has been degraded by the most
crude, repulsive and evil cartoons printed in many newspapers and books?
Theatre, television and radio are also guilty of similar degradations. Even
Our Blessed Mother has been grossly insulted in an ‘art museum’. Yes, we may
vocalize our anger and disgust amongst ourselves,
but our public silence
only perpetuates these vicious attacks. In the past, our
Church was united to defend any
insult that would vilify our Leader, Jesus Christ. The voices that do defend
Him are a very small minority. Now
is the time for the Church to unite and change that small minority to a full majority!
Just imagine, all
parishioners in our diocese praying together the same prayers, at the same
time, apologizing to Almighty God for our apathy and negligence that
encourages the enemies of His Son to continually insult and blaspheme His
Holy Name!.
The most precious gift you can offer the Triune God is yourself! Jesus
asked, "Can you not watch one hour with Me?" Jesus always longs for our
company. We are calling all who agree that we owe this day to Him to join us
for as long as you can – and as often as you can. The more difficult the sacrifice
of your time, the more precious is your gift to God! If you choose to fast,
that would enhance your gift.
